twilight professional learning
There is no better resource for teachers than other incredible media teachers. ATOM QLD understands that life is busy and perhaps missing time at school isn’t always possible!
For this reason, we also offer various Twilight sessions throughout the year (often online after school) to allow those remote teachers the chance to connect, learn and reflect about their own teaching practice.
The Twilight sessions will often be based about a topic of interest such as:
Editing basics
External Examination preparation
Media Arts in Practice
Senior Syllabus basics
Teaching junior media arts
Interested in running a Twilight session? We’d love to hear from you!
professional development days
ATOMQLD has run regular State Conferences here in Queensland, a national conference (welcoming media teachers from all states in Australia) in 2023 and a regional conference in Port Douglas in 2024.
It is for this reason that ATOM QLD has networked with various tertiary pathways to help run our professional development days for teachers. ATOM QLD has run PDs at SAE Brisbane, Australian Performing Arts Conservatory and TAFE Coomera. These events, graciously hosted by these tertiary spaces, offer teachers an insight into the expectations of students while also honing their own skills in various practical workshops such as Cinematography, editing, foley sound, fight choreography and more.
We are interested in connecting with various tertiary spaces in the future and endeavour to offer at least one professional development a term to allow teachers to connect and refresh as often as they need.
Interested in offering your tertiary space to network with our media teachers?
conferences
ATOM QLD is committed to helping teachers enhance their media teaching practices improving students’ outcomes in the classroom. ATOM QLD organises yearly conferences where experienced classroom media teachers, industry specialists and various professional guest speakers attend to offer their insights, classroom resources and helpful networking to our members.
The conference offers attendees the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and develop a sense of community. The ATOM QLD conferences provide opportunities to connect with experts and fellow educators, fostering collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas. Teachers can engage in workshops and sessions tailored to both junior and senior media arts, gaining access to the latest research, teaching strategies, and resources that can be directly applied in the classroom. Furthermore, the ATOM QLD conferences often inspire educators to explore new perspectives and pedagogical approaches, reigniting their passion for teaching. Networking with peers can also lead to valuable mentorship opportunities and the formation of supportive professional communities. Ultimately, these conferences empower teachers to elevate their practice, improve student outcomes, and stay current in an ever-evolving educational landscape.
