Upcoming DSLR and DST Workshops

ATOM QLD ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TWO SEPARATE WORKSHOPS ON SATURDAY 26TH OCTOBER!

Introduction to DSLRs

DSLR

With the price of DSLRs dropping and their great dynamic range we thought it was timely to offer some PD on how to use this technology in the classroom. Pro-Cam, a Brisbane-based equipment hire company with over 25 years experience in hiring to the Film & TV industry will run a 3 hour hands-on workshop introducing participants to the DSLR: it’s functions, processing, lenses, lights, and use as a tool for video production.

Participants will receive a $50 discount voucher for future equipment hire!

This is a fantastic chance for all teachers to get savvy with the upcoming technologies to extend their FTV and digital media students.

Digital Storytelling Workshop

DST

Digital storytelling is a community based workshop practice created for everyday people to tell their own stories using simple digital media tools. Examples of such media can be found in public broadcasting initiatives such as ABC Open. Digital storytelling can be used in various subject classrooms to introduce students to the basic building blocks of narrative and to contribute towards increasing formal literacy skills; including both traditional language based literacy and digital and media literacy. It is a highly accessible media production practice that can appeal to both the primary classroom, and to the upper secondary classroom as an introduction to documentary units.

Jennifer Gibson and Elizabeth Heck from QUT will introduce teachers to the basics of digital storytelling, and its various applications in the school classroom as a way of engaging learners from diverse backgrounds and interests.

Numbers are strictly limited for both workshops so get in quick!
