METRO and SCREEN EDUCATION launch digital editions‏

Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) is happy to announce the launch of enhanced versions of its industry-leading magazines, Metro and Screen Education, for digital distribution via Zinio.

Zinio Digital Magazines Newsstand http://au.zinio.com includes many of the best-known international magazines such as Wired, National Geographic, Newsweek, Macworld and New Scientist, among hundreds of others. A digital magazine distribution platform, Zinio magazines are readable on almost any digital device, including PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones and Android devices.

Excitingly for Metro and Screen Education, the Zinio platform allows the embedding of clips from feature films, documentaries, shorts and animations discussed in the magazines. Optimised for a tablet screen, the Zinio edition provides brilliantly clear images. In digital form, the magazines will also be able to link to websites, iTunes and other distribution platforms for sales information.

A recent issue of each magazine can be read for free via http://bit.ly/zinioM169 (Metro) and http://bit.ly/zinioSE61 (Screen Education), or by searching in the Zinio app. More issues will be added in the near future for subscription or single-issue sales.

First published in 1968, Metro is Australia’s oldest film magazine. It is unique for its focus on screen culture from Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region, with coverage of feature films, documentaries, TV and new media. Each quarter, Metro provides a snapshot of the most exciting film and screen culture from the region, and its launch on Zinio provides an opportunity to expose discussion of this exciting world of cinema and media to readers worldwide.

Screen Education is the only printed magazine in the world that focuses on film and media literacy and education. It provides a unique forum for the discussion of media education and screen literacy. Distribution on Zinio provides the opportunity for this unique magazine to be read more widely internationally, and by a younger generation more familiar with the screen than the printed page.

These Zinio editions have been developed by ATOM with digital partner NMG, who are also working towards launching the magazines on the Apple Newsstand.
